Middle School Enrichment Opportunity for Students- 4

September 28, 2020 12:33 AM | Raina Ford (Administrator)

The DuPage County National Association for The Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Youth Council (Unit 3758) was started in 1974 by Wheaton, IL residents Mr. and Mrs. Odom. During their tenure, the Youth Council expanded to serve Kane, Kendall, and Will Counties.

The Youth Council is comprised of a youth-led elected executive team and youth members from 6th-12th grade. The youth elects an adult Advisor to facilitate and guide them during their monthly meetings.

Our mission and goals are to create forums and events to promote activism, to provide youth with personal and civic leadership training, to promote nonpartisan political and community activism, and to gain exposure to public awareness for positive engagement.

We meet every 2nd Sunday of the month at 4:15pm at New Horizon Christian Fellowship Church, located at 3577 E. New York St in Aurora, IL, 60504. Currently, all meetings are virtual via Zoom.

Most of the Youth Council communication is through GroupMe, a mobile messaging app. We post community service events, seminars, internships and scholarships, among other things.

Also, follow us on social media! You can find the Youth Council on Instagram (@naacpdupageyc), GroupMe(@ Dupage County NAACP YC) , and Facebook (@NAACP DuPage County Youth Council).

If your son and/or daughter is interested in participating, please email:
